My Review

Hard Ride #1: A Novel in Three Parts by Opal Carew

Noooooooooooooooo! Opal Carew you TORTURE me!!

Holy H-E-double sticks! Nice way to leave me panting for the second book! Good thing I have all three parts in my hot little hands. Cliffhangers and I don’t get along unless I get to read on immediately.

I have several friends who don’t like to read about cheating in their books, so I’m warning them. There is cheating in the third part. It’s unexpected and a big surprise. I don’t mind it, but know a lot of people who do. Here’s your heads up. ๐Ÿ™‚

Some secret from the past has broken the main characters apart, and now they’re living completely different lives than they ever expected. I see a definite second chance forming for these two, but then THE LAST SENTENCE. Gah!! I need to jump right into the second segment so pardon me if I’m leaving you hanging, too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This serial has now been combined into a single volume which is #4 in the Ready to Ride series. I haven’t read the first three in the series, but I’m tempted to go back and read them. I’ve read a LOT of Opal Carew, so I know they’ll be enjoyed, too, but they’re not necessary to enjoy Hard Ride.

I have been given a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is part two of HARD RIDE, a three part novel.

MY REVIEW

Hard Ride #2: A Novel in Three Parts by Opal Carew

Pushing boundaries, keeping secrets, hiding feelings all add up to a couple who don’t know they’re BOTH in love!

The second part of this story is sexier and more daring than the first part. It’s only getting better! These two love each other SO big, but they each think the other wants to stick to the contract, especially now that Liv thinks/knows that the contract he made her sign makes her anything but special.

I feel awakening coming on during this second chance romantica story, awakening of feelings and awakening of sexual desires. With ANOTHER cliffhanger that’s left my heart pounding, I can’t wait to see how this story comes to completion. So far, it’s everything I expect from a story by Opal Carew, so I can’t imagine anything less than good feelings when I finally put the third part down. Off I go!

I had been given a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I’m fanning myself.

MY REVIEW

Hard Ride #3: A Novel in Three Parts by Opal Carew

She had been ridden hard and put back wet, and she loves it!

If you haven’t read the first two parts of this story, you won’t want to read this review. I won’t spoil the third part, but this far into the story, it’s impossible not to spoil the first two parts. Git! Go read them! ๐Ÿ™‚

LIES! Wow, if everyone was to tell the truth, there would be no story. LOL! This book is a lesson in trust. You can’t trust everyone you come across in life. Stranger danger! Beware! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The sex in this part of the book is INSANELY HOT! We know from the synopsis that there is a gangbang. Thank you, Opal Carew, for stretching our minds to the possibilities when a willing woman submits and succumbs to more than one man. It’s not something I would personally ever do, but boy do I love to live vicariously through your characters! Not every fantasy needs to be acted out, but your writing gives your readers the gift of spice inside their minds to rev up their own sexual relationships. THANK YOU.

I have fallen hard for more than one man in this book, so I definitely see myself going back to read this series from the beginning, as I’m intrigued about how all these people have come together into such an interesting group. A little bird has told me that Steele’s part of the story is EXTRA SUPER HOT, so I’ll be looking forward to that.

I had been given a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thanks so much to Opal Carew for the amazing tale and to St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this story!

About Opal Carew

Hi. I’m Opal Carew, a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author. I write erotic romance for St. Martin’s Press and Samhain Publishing, and I self-publish stories. I also write romance as Amber Carew.

So why do I like writing erotic romance? I like being able to push beyond traditional boundaries. I like dealing with a female character who is growing and evolving – questioning her sexual boundaries and pushing past them. My stories usually include menage a trois. It is great fun to write a heroine choosing between two equally appealing heroes… or more.

These aren’t women who just jump into bed with anyone. They find themselves in an unusual situation – something exciting and erotic – but a situation where they have to push themselves beyond their comfort level. As a result, they grow as a person. So often fear holds us back – of what others will think of us, of what we will think about ourselves – and we don’t follow our hearts. These women push past that fear.

    1. That should have said “tortured in a good way.” ๐Ÿ˜‰ I LOVE to be tortured by books. Heehee… I cannot WAIT to read more of your stuff. I went on an Opal Carew book binge a year or two ago, but you’ve written so much since then, I’ve got some catching up to do! I need to get back in the good graces of St. Martin’s Press on NetGalley. I had requested The Riding Steele books last fall and recently the Stepbrother, Mine books, and they declined me for all of those. I was THRILLED when they approved me for these three, and then health problems set in and I couldn’t meet any deadlines. ๐Ÿ™ I’ve had one surgery already this summer and another one coming next week. This blog and all the reading I do (and homeschooling my two kids, and hubby, of course!) are my lifeline through all this. I want to add your stepbrother books to my 2015 Stepbrother Book Challenge, and hope to be reading them soon. ๐Ÿ™‚

And, yes. My wordy self rambles on, but answering your question. I’ve loved ALL of your books I’ve read. ๐Ÿ™‚ I didn’t really learn how important reviews are to authors until last year (spring 2014). I try to review most everything nowadays, and now I’m hoping readers learn how important Like and Helpful buttons are to reviewers. LOL! Maybe I should do a blog post about that!

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your health issues. I’ve had stress issues lately which are affecting my health, so I’ve had to figure out what to drop from my schedule. Luckily, writing isn’t one of the things! I’m writing more because it is what I’m passionate about and I believe actually reduces my stress!

We authors really do appreciate when people review our books and it is so kind of you to take that so seriously! I know it is time consuming.

You certainly do have a full schedule. I wanted to home school my children but it didn’t work out for me. I realized I couldn’t cope with the time and organization involved, but I tried to volunteer at the school and we were (and still are) the house where everyone comes over!)

I’m sorry to hear that St. Martin’s declined your Netgalley requests. Maybe they cut back on how many review copies they allowed or had hit a limit. I’m not in on their methods there. I did send your review to my editor, though, so I hope she’ll keep you on the approved list! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you for that! St. Martin’s runs hot and cold with me. I think it’s because I’ve mostly been slow with getting reviews in, and when I was new with NetGalley I requested WAY too many books, making my approval-to-feedback ratio really low at times. Two months ago it was down to 8%. Publishers like to see that at 80%. I’ve been working hard on it and am back up to 42%, so I’m getting there! I have an awesome hubby who lets my book budget be unlimited because he trusts me to not abuse that, but it’s SO nice when I can get what I really want to read badly from NG for free. Plus, I like the way the system works and helps get me in front of the publishers. The only publisher who has always told me no is Harlequin, and I have no idea why! LOL! They’re like the book nazis. NO BOOKS FOR YOU! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyway, I only need one more publisher to set me up for auto-approval, and I get one more NetGalley badge for my blog. I plan to keep my focus for a bit on a small handful of publishers to try to encourage that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love our homeschooling lifestyle. Hubby works from home doing some computer thing I don’t understand, and I’m a writer (yet to be a published author) and blogger, so we’re all at home. We love the flexibility! I am VERY disorganized, but early on I found a really great curriculum that uses “living” books instead of textbooks for most courses, and it’s been working great for us for 12 years because all of the organization and scheduling has already been done for me. Our oldest is ready for homeschool high school. Eep! Transcript time! LOL! This came on WAY too fast!
