My Review
This is a charming manlove short story, but…
…it has a pretty big problem. The problem is, I don’t really connect to the characters, because the story is told to me, not shown to me. The characters are well-developed in the physical sense. I get that James is tall, dark and handsome. But I don’t feel any chemistry, and, in fact, get a little uncomfortable with the two main characters staring at each other for no apparent reason. I don’t get the thrill I should from the hand-holding. I LOVE that there is no sex in this book. I don’t need that in a love story. But, without sex, I need to feel the love.
This book has a terrific plot, perfect for a short story. If the story is played out more in my head, I do believe the author would have been rewarded with my tears (a sure sign of a good book for me). I truly wish I could feel the angst after James’s big secret is revealed. I want so much more from this little book, but it falls a little short and is just okay for me.
